Most of you may know of this festival called Boston Calling, that comes to the Harvard area every summer. For this year, I decided to attend the last day of this three day festival on May 26th, 2019. The two main acts for this day were Travis Scott and Logic. Sheck Wes, Marina, and more were also acts for Sunday’s lineup. My friend & I showed up hours before Logic or Travis Scott were to perform because we wanted to explore and just have fun in the moment. We ended up getting sunburned during the day from it hitting almost 90 degrees and sunny all day until 5 or 6pm.
Once the bands started to play, and the sun went down, was when the fun was really about to start. We had some drinks, danced to Mo Bama by Sheck Wes, and counted down the minutes until Logic was coming on. Around 8pm was when Logic was suppose to come on the Red stage. Everyone near the Green stage ran over to the Red stage to get a good spot to watch Logic. I was so excited to see Logic again because it’s been a couple years since I last saw him perform. Finally, Logic took the stage and started to rap his fast rap as usual. The crowd was wild for him, and he kept saying he was happy to be back in Boston and then went on performing. He did some songs off his new album, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and then talked about his book SuperMarket. He started to sing the song Isis that he appears on with Joyner Lucas, and the crowd was hyped, especially when Joyner himself appeared on stage to sing his own song. After that Logic had ended his set a little over time, and played Everyday. When that song came on, the whole crowd was screaming the lyrics and jumping up and down. I can honestly say, Logic is one performer you don’t want to miss out on.
After Logic was done, there was a small intermission if you want to say, before Travis Scott took the Green stage to end Boston Calling. Travis was suppose to come on stage around 9:30pm, and end by roughly 11pm. Travis came on and performed songs from his latest album Astroworld to his older albums Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight, and Rodeo. The crowd was starting a small mosh pit all over, jumping up and down to the beat of the songs and yelling the lyrics with Travis. I’ve always wanted to see Travis Scott in concert and never been able to, so seeing him Sunday was incredible. He puts on a good show for his fans, his stage visuals/backdrops are amazing, and he’s just an attractive person! I could feel the ground vibrating when Sicko Mode came on, from everyone jumping, and the base of the speakers playing the music. That song goes hard every time, and singing word for word with every other fan is the best feeling.
I was sad to say goodbye to Logic and then Travis when his set was over. I was sad that the wait for this day had came to end around 11pm, and that my friend and I had to go back to reality after this. I wasn’t looking forward to it. I can say I would 100% attend Boston Calling again, but the line up won’t top these two artists. I’m excited to see what’s next for these two, and for their tours in the near future. Hopefully I’ll be in attendance, and can share my experiences with them and other fans reading this. Links to Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Astroworld are below! Enjoy!
